OSI Updates – August 2009
By: Gamma Gen SAJChurchey
OSI has finally got back into the software business, and in a big way. I have been very impressed with the progress MDalby has made with CA Product Development. It has been quite some time since we have had active development projects in OSI, and now we have three that are making progress and building momentum.
Silverknight, X/O of CA Product Development and the brains behind the Tech Portal project, has even released a 1.0 version of the portal with aggressive plans to make further improvements. Silverknight is eagerly awaiting feedback and ideas for additional features. So if there is a tool you would like to see added, drop him a line.
Our latest arrival, todd434 has jumped head first into his first project. He decided to implement a Jabber-based IM framework for CyberArmy and other web communities to use. He has finalized on using the C language for this project, and he is eagerly awaiting others to check out his software and help with the project.
OSIX.net membership has been exploding in the last 6 months as the GEEK Challenges continue to draw the public to our website. OSIX.net is ripe for project leaders to take advantage of. You can try to find members for your projects in our community and advertise your projects and their progress using our Blogs. If you are in need of new blood for your development project, you may be able to find it at OSIX.net if you can spark the interest of some of our competitors. As always, the GEEK Challenges are open to everyone if you’re just looking for a little fun.
As for promotions this month, we have quite a few because of our recent expansion and successes. NightScript was promoted to Major this month for his continuing loyalty to OSI and his commitment to keeping Editorial alive, despite the recent dry up of submissions. Cadey was promoted to Lt. this month. He has been with our Editorial brigade off and on for years, submitting articles whenever he can get out from under Penguin. He has certainly earned my trust and shown his long-term commitment to our brigade, and finally todd434 was promoted to 2nd Lt as he gets settled into his new project and shows his abilities as he works on his prototype. I would like to thank these members for their help these past few months as we move forward.
